Google is now aiming to attract an important segment of the Japanese users by releasing a regional version of Google Transit, an interesting tool part of the Labs. Using Google Transit, the client must type two locations and enable the service to calculate the route and the distance with the public transportation option.

"Do you live in or near a city? Want to go someplace-to the airport, to dinner, to work every day-and not worry about the hassles and expense of driving and parking? Google Transit Trip Planner enables you to enter the specifics of your trip-where you're starting, where you're ending up, what time of day you'd like to leave and/or arrive-then uses all available public transportation schedules and information to plot out the most efficient possible step-by-step itinerary," Google described the product.

The solution was launched in December 2005 but it wasn't too promoted by the parent company, being rarely updated with new locations. Since its debut, Google Transit included Portland, Oregon but the search giant presented a new location today. According to Googlified, the service is now available to Japan including most of the cities, the solution being accessible from any handheld device with an Internet connection.

Although the update is not too important, it represents another Asian version of the Google products, the search giant struggling to conquer the local market. In the recent period, the Mountain View based company made several efforts to increase its presence in China, Korea or any other Asian country. Some time ago, Google debuted a new Korean AdSense blog while today it introduced a Korean forum, also designed for the company's publishers. However, the Google attempts to conquer Asia are easily rejected by the local leaders that are always attracting the majority of clients to their solutions.
