Google made quite a few developers happy last weeks when it announced that it will be giving away 10,000 Google TV devices (technically Logitech Revue devices). Now it's providing an update saying that it has sent several thousand developers from the Google Code Community email notifications offering them a device.

"Last week we announced that we'd be giving out 10,000 Google TV devices over the course of the next several weeks. As part of those efforts, today we sent an email to thousands of U.S.-based web developers in the Google Code community to offer them a free device," Amanda Surya, Google TV Developer Relations Team, wrote.

"This program, combined with last week's Adobe MAX Conference giveaway and our Google TV Giveaway Contest for Web Developers, is going to allow us to realize our goal of getting these devices into the hands of web developers so they can start building optimized websites for TV," she added.

Google has already provided attendees of Adobe's MAX Conference with more than 3,000 Google TV devices.

Google and Adobe have been becoming very friendly lately with Google showing full support for Flash platform, even as Apple and others are doing the exact opposite.

At the time, Google also said it will be reaching out to the developers involved with Google Code, who are also US residents, to provide them with a Logitech Revue Google TV device.

The company has also been running a Google TV Giveaway for Web Developers in which it was asking those interested in working with the platform to enter their submissions for a chance to get a free device. That promotion is now over.

Google has every reason to get developers interested, especially after the rather cold reception Google TV got at launch from content providers. The company plans to open up the Android Marketplace to apps built for Google TV and it's going to need to get support from developers for it to be a success.
