Google is surely one of the most popular companies on the internet with a huge number of services and millions of users every day. The search giant currently has multiple rivals that are challenging the company in several categories such as search engine and advertising platform - Yahoo or many other services - Microsoft. That's why its employees are continuously trying to improve the products provided by the company, the stake at this level being enormous. Imagine that the most powerful company is gaining a huge profit, increased popularity and world-wide reputation.

Earlier this week, Google was named as the best company in the world to work for, having more than 6.000 US employees benefiting of promotions, bonuses and 20 percent of work time for individual projects. Not only that the company was named one of the most popular companies but Matt Cutts, a Google engineer, denied the rumors that said he will be leaving the company soon saying that the search giant is really a dream for everyone.

Today, silicon.com announced that Google is the most popular company in the UK, being placed on the first position while Microsoft was rated as the second most popular firm. "Google has beaten Microsoft to be named the UK's most popular brand in 2006. At the same time it has won plaudits as the best global company to work for in 2007.

Microsoft came second with fellow tech companies Nokia coming fourth and Vodafone tenth in the top 10 of the most popular UK brands for 2006, according to research from Millward Brown. Google also hit the top spot as the brand perceived as 'growing more popular' in 2006, with social networking site MySpace snapping up the sixth spot under the Millward Brown research," the website said.
