Google has been listening carefully to the feedback from the Hangouts community and released version 1.1.1, which delivers support for SMS invites, sending and clicking on links, and more.

Google Hangouts 1.1.1 for iOS “addresses some of the top requests we’ve heard from you,” according to the search giant.

Topping the lists of new features is support for sending and clicking on links, followed by the ability to invite friends to Hangouts via SMS, in-app sounds when you receive a message, and improvements to the badge counter.

Network connection bar “weirdness” has been fixed (Google doesn’t say in what way), and several other bug fixes are also included. Lastly, iOS 6.0 is now fully supported according to the release notes. However, the system requirements mention iOS 6 as the minimum firmware version.
