After the departure of Vanessa Fox, the ex-Google Webmaster Central chief, the Mountain View company tries to fill in the "hole" and made an interesting announcement about the webmaster tools. Ríona MacNamara, Webmaster Tools Team,
tries to keep the customers close to the company and sustained they are preparing several goodies for them in the next several weeks. As far I can see, most of the improvements are addressing the Help Center attached to the Webmaster Tools that are providing useful information for the community of users.
"Well, over the next several weeks, we'll be working on lots of changes to the Help Center, both in its content and its organization. We'll be looking at all the feedback we've gotten, and we're taking it very seriously: believe me, I have a long task list for this area," the Google employee said today.
Most of the goodies aim at making the Help Center be more discoverable and more useful, as a lot of customers sent several feature requirements to the search giant. "It's not as easy as it should be to find the information you're looking for. You'd like Google to do a better job of surfacing the answers to the most common questions. The browse structure doesn't make it easy for users to find help, and sometimes search depends on users knowing exactly the right term to search for", one user said.
As you might know, Vanessa Fox, the one who managed to build an impressive community around her and around the Webmaster Tools, recently announced her departure as she decided to leave for another company. As I said at that time, the Mountain View company lost its heart and it's now aiming to revive it by releasing several goodies to keep the customers that are addicted to the products.
