Google's homepage is the most visited webpage every day because millions of users want to use the search engine developed by the company. As you know, Google is accessible in an impressive number of countries with personalized domains, using a certain language and tools. Some time ago, Google and its powerful rival Yahoo started an expansion campaign meant to increase the popularity of the firms in the Asian market. That's why both companies opened new offices in China that
are currently competing with the most known Chinese portals.
Yahoo was the first company that tried to design Chinese versions of their products but, at that time, the giant portal recorded numerous loses. The company announced multiple departures of its important employees that caused the need of an internal reorganization sustained by multiple directors of the company. Google tried to avoid to impose their products, releasing more and more tools but without a powerful campaign to promote them.
As I said, Google's official page is visited every day by millions of users. That's why it's very important for the company to improve it periodically with new tools and functions meant to make the page even more popular. Today, it seems like Google China added Maps search on the official website, allowing users to search for maps directly from the Google China page.
"Google China introduced a new link on the homepage for Google Maps. The map data loads from mapgoogle.mapabc.com, but shows no satellite imagery at this point. Currently, Google.cn includes links to web search, image search, Google News, and Google Maps. As is the case with other services linked from the homepage, Google Maps are self-censored, e.g. searching for Falun Gong will not show any locations, but display the notice instead ("according to local laws and policies some search results are not shown")," Google Blogoscoped reported.
