Google is always experimenting with new designs, new features and changes. It tests these changes with some users while it tweaks the design. Google is now experimenting with a new way of displaying related searches in Image Search.

Now, a list of queries that may be related to your search is displayed above the regular thumbnail results. The only way to see examples of the suggestion is to click on it and do another search.

Some users are seeing a new type of related searches, they have a small thumbnail of the top result next to their name and they also display thumbnails for the top three results in a popup overlay.

The idea is to make it easy to see whether the related searches are more what you’re looking for without actually having to click on them and load the new results.
