The service was due in early 2008

When I hear that something is due in early 2008, I check for it to see if it has arrived starting from January 1st and keep going until it will actually be there. Not the best of strategies, you might think, but it's effective. This time, blogoscoped.com beat me to it and found the login page where everything should start unfolding.

Google Health is supposed to give you the options to : "* Build online health profiles that belong to you * Download medical records from doctors and pharmacies * Get personalized health guidance and relevant news * Find qualified doctors and connect to time-saving services * Share selected information with family or caregivers"

However, at the moment, if you try to log in, all you'll get is the chance to be redirected to a page that says "Invalid request". Some work has been done and it's pretty close to being finished, as I noticed that typing a password at random will highlight you that it is not the right one for the account.

The same way, an error will be displayed if you click on the "Take a quick tour" link that is featured there, under the services' description, or on the "learn more" about Google Health privacy policy. In short, there's nothing there that does work except for the password verification.

Marissa Mayer first talked openly about the product at the Web 2.0 summit in San Francisco, in 2007. "If you look at health care, there's already a huge user need, people are already using Google more than any other tool on the Web to find health information," she said. "And the health care industry generates a huge amount of information every year. It's a natural core competency for us, to understand how to organize all that data."
