More Java tools for the Google fans

Google today announced that it will take part in the JavaOne, an annual conference hosted by Sun Microsystems with the purpose of talking about the technologies provided by the company. The creators of the Java platform scheduled the event for May 8 - 11 so, if you want to meet the Google employees, you should visit the Moscone Center from San Francisco today.

"As we mentioned in our post Gearing up for JavaOne 2007, Google is proud to be participating in JavaOne again this year! In order to help JavaOne attendees get up to speed with what Google is doing with Java technology, we put together a Java developers guide to Google technology. Also, feel free to stop by the Google booth and chat with our engineers!" Chris Schalk, Google Developer Programs, said today.

This is the second announcement that concerns the Java platform in two days, Google recently debuting UK Maps for Mobile compatible with Java handheld devices. The search giant's representatives sustained the product is currently only Java compatible, but the company plans to expand the support soon.

As you might know, Google is now trying to lure developers to the company by offering more and more tools to help them build products based on the search giant's solutions. For example, Google Maps recently introduced My Maps, a new function that helps users design their own mash-ups to show certain areas. The Mountain View company also scheduled the Developer Day on May 31, a new conference that will attract all the developers and where the company's solutions will be discussed. As I said some time ago, the event is somehow similar to Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference that is used to present new products to its customers.
