After a screenshot which proved to be a fake and some veritable ones that leaked on the Internet, Google officially launched the true Calendar.

Initially available to a handful of testers, the new service can now be accessed by any user with a Google account.

As expected, Google Calendar's interface is very similar to GMail's, which should come as no surprise since the two services will coexist.

Once the logging procedure is complete, users will see a table with days and hours, which they'll be able to explore with ease by setting periods of time (day, week, month, the next four days).

On the left side, there's also a small calendar, which eases furthermore the navigation. Events can be added with the help of the button in the upper left corner or by clicking on the desired day and hour.

In order to quickly add an event, for which the user doesn't have time to specify too many details, there is also the Quick Add feature. These entries can be accessed via the Agenda, which also allows users to view all the events.

An important feature of such services is the ability to import data from other public calendars or applications.

Google Calendar does a more than decent job at this, the service being able to synchronize with iCal and with Microsoft's solution. In order to do this, the user must first export the data in a file and import it into the Calendar. The result will be that the Calendar events and the imported ones will harmonically combine.

We wanted to test this feature, so we've decided to import data from the Yahoo calendar. The first thing we did was to export in an Outlook format and to import them, and in a few minutes, all the data was in Google Calendar.

Besides importing, Google Calendar also allows users to make their events public or to allow only a few persons to access them. Additionally, one can create several calendars, each of them for a specific task.
