Google revealed a stunningly good quarter, in terms of revenue and net income, both of which were at their highest. But CEO Larry Page also had some number, stats and info about the most notable Google products.

Naturally, he focused the most on Google+, which has only been around for a few months and he revealed the first official user numbers since two weeks after launch when Google+ hit the 10 million registered users mark.

Today, that figure is 40 million people. Granted, that's just the number of registered users, there's no way of knowing how many of those are sticking around. But Larry Page ensured everyone that people are coming back and sticking around.

"People are flocking into Google+ at an incredible rate and we are just getting started!," Page said.

"The engagement we are seeing is phenomenal too -- over 3.4BN photos have already been uploaded in Google+," he added.

Page once again reiterated the company line that Google+ was just getting started and that what we see today is just a very early step.

Since before it was launched, in fact since the first times Google confirmed that it was working on something related to the social web, it said that it would build a social 'layer' into Google and not a stand alone service.

"Our ultimate ambition is to transform the overall Google experience -- making it beautifully simple, almost automagical, because we understand what you want and can deliver it instantly," Page said.

"This means baking identity and sharing into all of our products so that we build a real relationship with our users," he added. "Think about it this way … last quarter, we’ve shipped the +, and now we’re going to ship the Google part," he concluded.

Google+ has been evolving since launch, it's been getting a big number of big and small additions. Games, the search feature, the improved Hangouts feature and so on, all of these have been added in a few months. If this continues, you can expect Google+ to evolve pretty fast.
