Google Drive Forms Adds Real-Time Collaboration, Auto-Saves Thanks to a Complete Rewrite

The Forms tool in Google Drive is getting a revamp, a needed one since there hasn't been much happening on that front for a long time.

The entire tool has been rebuilt based on Drive's new technology, so it finally gets a couple of features that Docs users have been taking for granted.

First and foremost, you can now collaborate on forms, just like you can on just about any other Google document. People can edit the forms together and chat in the side window to coordinate any ideas or changes.

This was only possible with a complete rewrite of the tool, which is why it took so long.

Another feature taken for granted that has only now been added to forms is automatic saves. Now, any change is synced to the cloud as soon as you make it. Also new is support for keyboard shortcuts and better copy/paste.

"Improved copy-and-paste will let you copy a list of bullets from the web or multiple rows of text from a spreadsheet; then, when you paste into a form, each line will be appear as an individual answer," Google explains.
