Since Google is a portal with almost all the services offered by its main competitors, Yahoo and MSN, the company could not afford to not include a financial service and so, the search engine leader has launched Google Finance.
Just like any other of the company's services, this one also has the same uncluttered and simple design which ensures the fast loading times.
On the Google Finance start page, users can monitor the stock market indexes Nasdaq, Dow, S&P and NYSE and view the latest headlines in the business world. Additionally, one can search for stocks, mutual funds, public and private companies.
An innovation brought by Google to finance services is the correlation between the stock evolution and the news related to a specific company.
For a better image of the new service's capabilities, we shall use Google as an example. By typing Google in the search field, you will be taken to page with an impressive amount of data regarding the company.
Users can observe Google's evolution at NASDAQ by studying the graphic which allows them to select a specific period of time. The smaller the period of time, the higher the zoom will be. The letters which can be seen on the graphic are associated with the left side news.
Immediately after that, users can find out detailed information about the company, including data about the management. It's ingenious how Google has succeeded to blend all the service with the new Finance; by passing the mousse over one of the management people, one can have access to their photos crawled by Google Image.
Another interesting idea is displaying the latest blogs associated with the keyword.
The Mountain View company is confident of Google Finance's success over competitors Yahoo and MSN.
"We feel this is going to change the face of finance sites," Marissa Mayer, Google's vice president of search products and user experience, told USA Today.
Google Finance is currently in beta and can be accessed
