Google Finally Changed Its Design!

The Mountain View company decided that it's time to implement one of the long awaited designs over the results page and modify the appearance of the website. Also today, along with the new interface, Google debuted Universal Search, an all-in-one search engine that bundles all the search technologies created by Google into only one product. Basically, Google modified only the structure of the SERP because the search technology remained unchanged. However, the search giant also debuted a new design for the results page, the recently introduced appearance being tested by the company some time ago.

As you can see in the picture attached to the article, the search technologies are now placed on the left part of the screen. The "more" menu contains some new products owned by Google that help users find a certain type of information on the Internet. Blogger Ionut Alex discovered a new element placed on the search engine results page and displayed every time a user searches for a singer. For example, if you type "Regina Spektor" you should be able to see a music icon displayed near the result that redirects the user to more information about the singer. If you type "Celine Dion", you can view a photo with the famous singer.

As far I can see, all these functions were tested in the past by Google on different search technologies owned by the company. However, all of them are now available through a single search engine, codenamed Universal Search that provides instant access to most types of information such as videos, news and web results.

Some time ago, the Internet users were able to see a lot of tests conducted by Google that revealed the company's plans to change the appearance of the SERP. It seems that the new interface presented today won the competition and might remain unmodified for a considerable period of time.
