The new feature is for before, during and after an event

Along with Android, Google+ took the center stage during the first keynote of the 2012 Google I/O developer conference. Google introduced the first native tablet version of the Google+ app but also debuted Google+ Events.

There have been some rumors about the feature, mostly the fact that it was coming. Granted, such a core feature for a social network was destined to land, sooner or later.

Google+ Events is quite interesting, it's a big step up over current similar features, something that Vic Gundotra was not shy to point out.

The key idea behind it is that events is not just about what happens before them, i.e. invitations and so on, but what happens during and after the event as well.

Once the event is unfolding you can turn on "Party Mode" to have any photo you take seen by everyone else at the party.

"As more guests turn on Party Mode, more pictures will instantly appear to fellow invitees. In this way Google+ Events gives your party a visual pulse; we’ve even added a "live slideshow" you can proudly project during the event," Google explained.

"With Google+ Events you can now relive the party whenever you want, with a captivating and comprehensive set of photos," it added.

"Just visit your event page after it’s over, and you’ll see everyone’s pictures and comments in chronological order. You can also browse by popularity, photographer or photo tag with a few clicks," it said.

Events should be going live for everyone now. It should also be built into the new version of the Google+ app, the Android phone one and the new tablet one.

Of course, the events are integrated into Google Calendar, so you'll be able to fit them into your schedule and you'll be notified when they're coming up.
