Google+ is supposed to be a layer that binds all Google products

Google+ is finally getting an Events feature. That's not much of a surprise, everyone knew it was coming. What is a surprise is that the feature is not just a "me-too" effort, it's a much better implementation of an Events-type feature than any major social network or even dedicated sites have done so far.

But besides being an interesting product in itself, Events enjoys one unique advantage that comes from being a Google product, integration with existing tools.

Events is linked directly to Google Calendar. While the feature "lives" on Google+, everything gets synced to calendar.

If you're an active user, you'll welcome the simplicity and the fact that, on the one hand, you don't have to handle all of this yourself, and, on the other, that you'll avoid scheduling two different things at the same time.

"Google+ Events are seamlessly integrated with Google Calendar to simplify the planning process, so you’ll always know when you have something coming up," Google explained.

"When creating a Google+ event, you can check your Google Calendar to make sure you pick the best time to party. Google+ events also sync to your mobile device's calendar, so you can have them handy when you are on the go," it said.

Anything you have planned with Google+ events or have been invited to will show up in Calendar. What's more, you'll know where it's from and who it involves at a glance since it will also feature a Google+ profile picture of whoever else is going.

"When you click to expand the event in Calendar, it displays a beautiful theme and allows you to set reminders, see other guests, and respond to the event," Google added.

All of this happens inside Calendar, so you don't have to leave to manage a lot of the tasks around events. Of course, you can follow the Google+ link and get the more detailed view of the Event, who is going to be there and so on.
