The Nexus 6 is already out and about, so the Nexus 5 can be considered a previous-generation device. However, a lot of consumers might still be interested in the smartphone because of its still-affordable price tag.

Like the Nexus 9, the Nexus 6 constitutes a change in pricing policy for Google, because the Motorola-made device is considered a premium offering.

But if you’re still mussing over a Nexus 5, we hate to bring you some bad news. Your chances of purchasing one such smartphone aren't good.

Nexus 5 anyone?

For starters, a new report is currently stating that the production of the Nexus 5 has been stopped. So does this mean you’ll never-ever get the chance of picking up such a smartphone?

The Nexus 5 is currently sold out in the Google Play store (the black one, but things aren't as bleak as one would expect.

According to Google officials, the company will continue selling Nexus 5 items on Google Play and via select retailers until the first quarter of 2015.

But we’re still skeptic whether the Nexus 5 will plunge into oblivion after the first three months of the new year go by. After all, the Nexus 5 is quite dear to the hearts of a lot of people.

Although, as Tech Radar reports, a Google official is advising that customers get ahold of their Nexus 5 as quickly as possible because “once they are gone, they are gone, so we’d suggest people get them while they can.”

So if you crave for a Nexus 5, you better act fast if you don’t want to be faced with the possibility of starting a fully-fledged manhunt to track down the smartphone of your heart.

Memory refresh: Nexus 5 spec roundup

The Nexus 5 is still a worthy smartphone by today’s standards. The handset takes advantage of a 4.95-inch full HD IPS display with 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution (445ppi).

The Nexus 5’s display takes advantage of Gorilla Glass 3. So that you know, Corning unleashed the Gorilla Glass 4 standard which is already present in the Samsung Galaxy Alpha and Galaxy Note 4 smartphones.

Going back to the Nexus 5, the model is powered by a 2.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor fitted with 2GB of RAM and either 16GB or 32GB of internal storage.

The handset features two cameras (8MP on the back with Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) and a 1.3MP frontal camera).

The smartphone includes Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC and 3G, but sadly it does not support expandable storage.
