The latest version of Google Earth has been improved with a set of new features, as well as some minor stability and performance enhancements. Google Earth 6.2 allows Android users to explore the world with the swipe of a finger.

However, the latest update brings more functions into the mix meant to improve users’ experience. Starting with version 6.2, Google Earth will support custom content.

Basically, users will be able to click on a KML file, also commonly known as “Google Earth file,” and get the application to automatically load the custom map contained in that file.

In addition, developers also created a Google Earth Gallery which is now available directly in the mobile application. This means that those who use the application will be able to explore maps from the Internet directly within Google Earth.

With Google Earth 6.2, it is now possible to explore a list of layers, including earthquake, real-time flights and city tours. These can provide useful information anytime, anywhere, as long as the application is installed and up to date.

More importantly, Google added a new feature called “Touring,” users can now load tours directly from the Gallery or inside balloons.

For social networking addicts Google introduced a new “Share” feature, which will allow them to share a screenshot of their current view with contacts in their Google+ circle, via Gmail, or on other apps (Facebook, Twitter).

In other words, users will be able to share their favorite places with their friends and families directly from an Android device.

According to Google, the latest version of the application also includes some improvements in navigations which make Google Earth even smoother. A new Zoom around and pinch gesture are available as well.

Google Earth 6.2 is now available as a free download in the Google Play Shop and it should be fully compatible with all devices running Android 2.1 and up.
