Google Earth represents the downloadable version of the map service provided by the search giant, allowing users to view maps and other imagery captured directly from the satellites using your computer's desktop. Today, the company announced a new update for Google Earth, adding new imagery and terrain details for certain locations. A Google employee posted a message on the Google Earth community to mention all the improvements also posted below:

- Entire country of Switzerland at 50cm and many Swiss cities at 25cm (thank you, Endoxon). - Entire country of Switzerland terrain at 10m, the Swiss Alps are now high-res! - Entire country of Denmark at 50cm. - Australia day fly-over. - Cities of France: Lyon; LeMans; Lourdes; Riems; Nancy; Limoges; Lille; Arles. - Potsdam and Magdeburg, Germany. - Barcelona, Belem, CapeTown, Galapagos (Isabella Island), Manaus, Mt Saint Helens, Recife, Rio, Venice). - Whistler British Columbia. - Full state coverage for Wyoming & Utah. - Significant amounts of new Digital Globe data.

The most impressive update ever made for Google Earth was released some time ago when the search giant added Google SketchUp interoperability to allow users to design their own 3D models of cities, streets or buildings. All the drawings are published on Google's Warehouse while some of the best designs are included in Google Earth. As you know, the company improves the program periodically because it is used in many domains such as monitoring the volcanoes activity or even organizing attacks as the terrorists used to do. Several publications reported that terrorists were using both Google Maps and Google Earth for organizing attacks against the UK army located in Basra.

Google Earth was also tested by Softpedia and it is available as a free download on this link.
