Using the Panoramio deal

Google Earth and Panoramio, the free service that provides a huge number of photos for all the search giant's users, announced today that there are no more than 1 million photos included in the downloadable application. As you might know, Panoramio provides several images for Google Earth, allowing the program to show the photos of a certain location from all around the world. This way, the users are able to view buildings and placemarks at a higher quality than the ones provided by the satellite pictures. Using a blog post published today, Eduardo Manchon of Panoramio announced the company sent almost 1 million photos to Google Earth after two new layers were recently included in the program.

"He says most of those made it into the update. This is really significant for two reasons: 1) there is a very fast growing collection of world-wide photo perspectives being made readily available through Google Earth; and 2) Panoramio is growing at an amazing pace since being added to the layer! When the layer was first added there were only 80,000 photos in December. Now, just 4 months later, nearly a million. Imagine where it will be by the end of the summer..." it was mentioned on the Google Earth blog.

The downloadable application powered by Google is currently the leader in its category because no other company managed to design a powerful rival. At this time, Google Earth and Google Maps, the two solutions designed by the Mountain View-based firm are attracting all the users as there is no competitive application. Yesterday, Yahoo revealed two new solutions for Indian users that will challenge the Google application and try to steal the local customers. Although it is extremely difficult because Google Earth is often used with other goals, it is worth to try.
