As I said yesterday, in order to obtain best results from Google Earth you need to have at least a 32 MB graphics card. But somehow, even if you own a more powerful hardware device, you encounter problems with the mapping tool. So,
how can we fix them if we currently have an ATI graphic card? Well, according to the Mountain View company, "ATI Rage, Rage Pro, XPERT 2000 cards are known to have issue with OpenGL and DirectX," so there's not much to do to use Google Earth at full power.

Just like always, you're encouraged to update your video card driver because the last version of the software contains fixes for most of the reported problems.

Here are the main glitches reported by the users and confirmed by the Mountain View company that concern the ATI graphics cards:

- ATI 340 IGP requires driver 6.14.10.6422 or later (Motherboard driver section). This card works well with DirectX, but does not work with OpenGL.
- ATI Rage, Rage Pro, XPERT 2000 cards are known to have issue with OpenGL and DirectX. They do not work well with either.
- ATI Radeon 7000 requires driver 6.14.10.6542 or later and works well with DirectX. OpenGL works well too but is known to crash with filled polygons (we recommend you use DX for now)
- ATI Radeon 8500 requires driver 6.14.10.6422 or later and works well with both DirectX and OpenGL.
- ATI Radeon X800 requires driver 6.14.10.6517 or later and works well with both DirectX and OpenGL. If you do face any problems try turning on anti-aliasing in the ATI control panel.

If you currently have an Nvidia graphics card, check out this article to find out how to repair the common problems with Google Earth. Also, you can check the Softpedia Drivers section to download the latest drivers for your device.
