New version of the downloadable mapping tool rolled out

As expected, the Mountain View company has out the new version of Google Earth yesterday, namely the 4.3 edition, which was supposed to come with several new improvements. One of the most important additions is surely Street View, a function that was first implemented into Google Maps and that allows users to view street-level panoramas straight from the application. This means that the fans of Street View are no longer required to open their browser in order to access the service, because they can do it even from their desktop by downloading and installing Google Earth.

And really now, the Street View version implemented in Google Earth seem to be more useful and easy to use especially thanks to the navigation controls which let you move around with a single click.

Beside Street View, Google Earth 4.3 now comes with sun and shadows, which means that animated shadows and lights are now displayed over the provided imagery "as they move across the landscape," according to Google. Obviously, there's also an important imagery update so regions of the world which were not accessible until now may be now available in high-resolution.

Here are the release notes as they were published by the Mountain View company in the changelog:

■ Navigation controls - Look around, move and zoom into any location ■ Sun and shadows - View animated shadows as they move across the landscape ■ 3D buildings - View hundreds of photo-realistic new buildings in many of the world's cities ■ Imagery date information ■ Support for new language versions ■ Flash videos in placemark balloons (Windows and Macintosh)
