Google has updated their Google Drive app for Apple's iOS mobile operating system earlier today, and this version introduces a new, modern design, as well as several under-the-hood improvements.

Google Drive 4.0 for iOS is now available for all iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch users from the App Store application. The new release will present users with the highly anticipated Material Design interface that is being promoted by Google on all of their products, including Chrome OS and Inbox by Gmail.

Besides the beautiful, cleaner, and flatter Material Design, which you can see from the screenshots attached at the end of the article, Google Drive 4.0 introduces faster image viewing and file synchronization functionality.

Moreover, Google added a new swipe gesture to the Google Drive for iOS app, allowing users to go back to the main list from any folder, simply by swiping with their finger on the screen from left to right. Also, the performance of the scrolling functionality of the application has been greatly improved.

Here are the main highlights of the Google Drive for iOS app

Google Drive is a neat application from Google that allows iOS users to view the contents of their Google Drive accounts, as well as to interact with the items stored there. It lets you view documents, photos, videos, PDFs, and other file types.

Additionally, you can search for files by content and name, share folders and files with colleagues, family members, or friends without too much hassle, set various sharing permissions for editing, viewing and commenting on files, and enable offline mode.

Google Drive 4.0 for iOS is now available in the App Store on iTunes. It is compatible with iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch devices, and has been optimized for iPhone 5, iPhone 6, and iPhone 6 Plus devices. It requires iOS 7.0 or later.
