I'm not sure why I get this feeling of being happy whenever I find out about or catch Google doing something different than it should be, like last month's displaying a Christmas Recipe in the Sci-Fi section of its News, or today's time not accounting for the daylight savings in Buenos Aires.
I guess it has something to do with seeing that a giant has its flaws, that the thing everybody is talking about is actually not that great.
There are some downsides to it, though, it's like real life. Once you catch it on the wrong foot, you tend to look at it with a lenient eye and that just isn't acceptable. It looks more… human, if I may. Ok, I'm not sure how the mistakes within the Catholic Church might be looked at and smiled upon (I've noticed that some are actually happy to see things not going the right way within the CC ), but this just goes to prove my theory, it's the example that strengthens the rule.
Yes, as I'm sure you've seen in the two screenshots, Google hasn't yet accounted for the daylight savings time in Buenos Aires that began at midnight on December 30th. It's quite a long time to be in the dark, when one of their products, so to speak, is malfunctioning. Anyway now it's out, thanks to a user of Flickr, who calls himself reemer, and searchengineland.com's Greg Sterling.
This is the best situation to parody MC Hammer's hit "Can't Touch This" and its famous line "Stop! Hammertime!" would turn into (obviously) "Stop! Googletime?", and it would go on about how the Mountain View based mammoth has "eaten" an hour of the Buenos Aires inhabitants' time. Possible idea, I'm not clinging to it, it's a sample of poor geek humor.
