Google Docs & Spreadsheets - It's Your Word Alternative, Too!

Googlers simply love the company's application

Google Docs & Spreadsheets comes as the best freeware alternative for Microsoft Word and other text processors, being accessible straight from the window of your browser. All you need is a Google account and you're ready to go. Obviously, numerous users turned to Google Docs & Spreadsheets

in the detriment of the other technologies available out there but the Mountain View company wants even more. Every once in a while, the search giant adds new features and functions that make Docs & Spreadsheets more powerful, becoming the top web-based word processor currently available.

But the Internet consumers are not the only ones who use Docs & Spreadsheets as most of the employees working at the Googleplex are also turning to this technology. It's quite obvious when you think that this continuous use might lead to the repair of bugs, glitches or other issues. According to Ken Norton, Product Manager, Google Docs & Spreadsheets, 87 percent of the company's employees from the entire world used the solution in the last week while 96 percent of them accessed it at least for one time in the past month.

What's more interesting is that they created no less than 370,000 new documents and spreadsheets as they manage to produce 3,000 new files every day.

"At Google, it's common to use our own products internally. In software industry parlance, we "eat our own dog food." (We like to think that Google products are tastier than kibble, but we'll leave that alone for now.) This is especially true for Google Apps. We use the same product as customers like Arizona State University and Prudential Preferred," the Google representative stated.

"As you can imagine, few tools in the corporate world are more important than email, calendar, instant messaging and document editing, so a vote of confidence from our co-workers means a lot. Since we use all of the Google Apps every day, we experience first hand what works and what doesn't, and we can apply that knowledge to making the products better."
