Google's developer lovefest, the Google I/O conference is almost here, starting next week. But that doesn't mean Google can't start showering its developers with gifts early on. It introduced the Google Developer Live, a site the company described as "the excitement of Google I/O year-round."

The site will host sessions and information for Google-oriented developers, whether they're interested in YouTube, Android, Chrome, Drive or even the undeveloped Google+.

A big emphasis is on a personal touch, so developers will be able to book meetings with the Googlers hosting the sessions well in advance via the "Office Hours" system.

The Q&A sections will be hosted with Google+ Hangouts, but it will probably end up on YouTube too.

It seems like an interesting tool to familiarize yourself with the various Google APIs and get in touch with the very people that make them.

"We think connecting you with Google's experts and your fellow developers can inspire incredible app creation," Louis Gray, famed former Silicon Valley blogger, now on the Google developer relations team, wrote.

"So today, we're introducing Google Developers Live, a destination for developers around the world that will feature live, interactive broadcasts ranging from developer-focused game shows to Office Hours where you can connect with the engineers who created and work on your favorite Google product," he explained.

Speaking of Google I/O, you'll be able to keep track of all the action, or lack thereof, wherever you are, at work, in bed, on holiday, via the new Google I/O Android app.

You'll be able to watch the keynotes and several sessions live as they happen on your phone or tablet. The streams will be available on the Google I/O site too.

The app is actually more useful to those privileged enough to be going to the conference, as there's a full schedule of the sessions, a map to help you get to them and other useful stuff.
