It’s been less than a week since Google updated its Search application for Android devices and now the company officially confirmed it would release a new version in the Google Play Store.

Given that the previous update did not add Material Design UI, Google’s engineers had to release another version of Search that would make the application fit better into the new OS.

Although the new iteration of Search for Android has yet to make it to Google Play Store, developers decided to unveil some of the main features and improvements that will be included in the upcoming app.

First of all, as mentioned earlier, the next update for Search will bring Material Design UI in its pure form, so those who own compatible Android devices will be able to enjoy a completely new visual experience.

But this is not all that’s been included in the new version of Search. The upcoming Search app will feature third-party app search support.

Google also details a few tips that owners of Nexus 6, Nexus 9 or Samsung Galaxy Note 4 can take advantage of if they want to.

For example, they will be able to set up their phones so they can say “OK  Google” in order to ask a question even if the screen is off and the phone is unplugged. The new feature is very useful when you have both your hands full.

You can now use Search app to flip a coin to help you with decisions

The update is supposed to add a new card as well, which will ask users if they want to be reminded of certain events like dinning somewhere or having drinks with someone.

Apparently, Search will now be able to crawl into your Gmail account for any potential plans you previously made with someone and will prompt whether you want them to be added to the calendar as reminders.

Google also mentioned that the next version of Search would also help users keep track of their trips, to-do lists and much more with Now cards.

Third-party apps now work in Search as well, but only for a number of apps like Tumblr, TripAdisor, TuneIn and YouTube, but more will be added in the near future.

Last but not least, you can now use the Search app when you badly need to decide on something, but aren’t too sure on what to pick. Just say “OK Google, flip a coin” and make those decisions faster than ever.

Google did not share any details on when exactly the next version of Search for Android would be available for download, but we can safely assume it won’t be long until it arrives in Google Play store.
