Google introduced Demo Slam last year as an arena for the most innovative and fun tech demos made by the users (and sometimes Google employees) for the users. Since then, there have been quite a few really interesting videos that managed to gain hundreds of thousands of views. But now it's time to crack it up a notch with the first ever Demo Slampionship.

16 demos will enter the competition but only one will be titled "Slampion." The first stage of the tournament has already started.

"It’s been tons of fun, but now it’s time for Demo Slam to get serious: ladies and gentlemen, the first-ever Demo Slampionship begins today," Michaela Prescott, Group Product Marketing Manager, announced.

"Sixteen of Demo Slam’s finest slams will go head to head in a single elimination tournament," she explained.

"Each round, your votes decide who advances to final Slampionship. Voting for the first round of 16 begins today, followed by the quarter finals, semi finals and the Final Slampionship," she added.

There's one week of voting in the first round left. After this, the winners in the head-to-head matches will move on to the next stage. There have been plenty of submission so far, but Google has now picked the most popular to pit against each other.

If you've been keeping an eye on the site, there shouldn't be any big surprises, but if you haven't, all 16 videos should be plenty of fun and you may even learn something new about a Google technology, what Demo Slam was created for in the first place.

Those keeping up with the latest technology probably won't find something extremely surprising in these demos, but they're aimed at the regular folks who aren't all that interested but who could definitely benefit from a product or feature they may not have heard about.
