The mobile web is exploding and smartphones are becoming ubiquitous in many places. Yet, things are moving so fast and everything is so new that people don't really know what works and what doesn't and how the mobile web is evolving and doing around the world.

This is where Google's new tool, a website called "Our Mobile Planet," comes in. The site is filled to the brim with smartphone and mobile web related data, but it also makes it easy to surface just the info you need.

To top it all off, you then get to create your own custom charts and graphs to showcase the data you want to highlight.

"Good data on the smartphone user is hard to come by. Good data that enables companies to make data driven decisions on how to engage with consumers on their smartphone is even harder to come by," Google's Nicole Leverich explains.

"Today we are launching a new resource to address that need," she said, referring to the new website.

The website provides a simple way for users to retrieve the info they want.

It guides users to provide them with the data they need from the location they're interested in via a wizard. Once that's finished, the data is displayed in a customizable chart.

Users can then export the data or the chart either as an image or a as a CSV or XLS file.

"Need to know the smartphone penetration in Singapore? It’s 62%. Trying to figure out if more consumers in France or Germany have made purchases via their smartphone? It’s France," Google detailed some of the info that's available.

"Want to know if consumers in the UK visit a store after doing a local search on their smartphone? 41% of them do," it added.

The new website could be a useful tool to professionals, marketers, app developers, but also to anyone interested in these types of numbers.
