The following shouldn't come as a surprise given Google and Verizon’s history together. It looks like the recently unveiled LG Nexus 5 will not be available for purchase at the Big Red.

The information has just been confirmed by Google's senior VP of Android Sundar Pichai, who told The Verge that “the Nexus 5 will not be on Verizon,” without any further explanation as to why this is happening.

However, Pichai has pointed out that Google is closely working with Verizon “on a set of projects for 2014.” It's impossible to tell what exactly these projects are and how they are going to compensate for the fact that Verizon will be one of the few US-based carriers that will not offer the Nexus 5.

We expect actual info on this to emerge in the coming months, so stay tuned for more updates on the matter.
