Google will lend students Chromebooks for up to four days

These days if you’re a student going to collage you probably own a laptop. But what happens if your machine suddenly malfunctions and you’re left out in the cold for a few days? Fortunately, Google has thought of that scenario and is here to help your case.

Starting this fall, Google will begin setting up the so-called Chromebook Lending Libraries in 12 college campuses across the US. Students will be able to borrow a laptop for up to 4 days, after which the Library packs up and leaves town.

If you have failed to return the Chromebook by the time the Lending Library is ready to go, guess what Google is going to ask you to pay for it.

With the advent of super cheap Windows 8.1 with Bing laptops which were designed as Chromebook killers, Google is trying to counter things somehow. And this program is obviously designed as an incentive for students to buy Chromebooks.

The search giant is hoping that once college kids get a taste of these lightweight laptops, which are easy to use, offer long battery life and allow access to cloud storage (meaning lost homework will be a thing of the past), they won’t be able to live without them anymore.
