Google Chrome 17 moved to stable channel on all supported platforms (Windows, Mac, Linux and Chrome Frame) and it makes available all the goodies touted in the beta version. The most notable of them are faster browsing and improved protection against malicious downloads.

In order to shorten the time for you to reach to a page, the new Google Chrome 17.0.963.46 comes with an updated pre-rendering percentage, to 99%. Basically, this means that pages start loading in the background the moment you begin typing the address and the suggestion is offered.

As for protection against malicious downloads and phishing attacks, the new release should achieve a higher success rate, since Safe Browsing adds two mechanisms to its arsenal. These should enable higher accuracy in determining whether a page is fake or a downloaded file is malicious.
