Stats show that Chrome is still the top browser worldwide

If you have a look at the browser market share figures provided by Net Applications for the month of January 2015, you should notice that Internet Explorer continues to be the leading choice for PC users worldwide, but a new bunch of stats offered by StatCounter claim otherwise.

This time, Google Chrome is the number one choice for those still using a computer with a mouse and keyboard, and what's more, figures show that half of these devices are running this particular browser.

Google Chrome is thus the top browser across the world with a market share of 51.72 percent, which is impressive to say the least. This means that more than 1 in 2 PCs on the planet are running Chrome, which is kind of impressive, given the fact that Internet Explorer is the default browser on Windows.

Internet Explorer still the runner-up

And yet, Microsoft's browser is still doing pretty well these days, despite the fact that in Windows 10 the company will introduce a new application called Spartan. At first, Spartan will be offered alongside Internet Explorer for compatibility purposes, but at some point in the future, Internet Explorer will disappear completely.

Internet Explorer is thus the second browser on the PC with a share of 21.16 percent, while Mozilla Firefox is third with 18.7 percent.

As far as versions are concerned, Chrome 39 is said to be the top option for computer users across the world, as no less than 32.37 percent of them are running this particular build on their PCs.

Internet Explorer 11, which is the default browser on Windows 8.1 and available as a stand-alone download on Windows 7, comes next with 11.77 percent, while Chrome 40 is third with 9.7 percent.

Overall, Chrome is pretty much the top option for those still on a PC, at least according these stats.

And yet, it's pretty difficult to figure out which browser is the top choice across the world, given the contradictory figures offered by all these companies, so if you are indeed looking for a new browser, just try the most popular ones and decide which one fits you best.
