Google Chrome continues to lead the list of the most used browsers worldwide, according to data coming from StatCounter.

In November, the Google-made web browser has a market share of some 41.87 percent, up from October’s 40.44 percent.

Internet Explorer comes in second for yet another month, with 27.31 percent market share, an important decrease compared to October, when Microsoft’s web browser had some 28.96 percent.

Firefox came in third, with 18.15 percent market share, slightly more than a month before; 0.04 to be exact.

Apple’s browser Safari ranked in fourth, with 8.5 percent, pretty much the same as the month before. Opera’s market share revolved around the 1.2 percent share it had in October.

The data proves that the battle continues to be given out between Chrome, IE and Firefox, the browsers nearly 90 percent of the entire world use.

When it comes to browser version, Chrome 30 and 31 take up the top two spots, with Firefox 25 following on the third spot. Internet Explorer 10, 8 and 9 make up for the next three spots.

Data also indicates that Internet Explorer is most popular in the United States, Canada, Greenland and China. At the same time, Chrome gets used a lot in South America, Russia, Australia, most European countries, India, big part of the Middle East and parts of Africa. Firefox, tops popularity charts through Africa, a few European nations and Indonesia.

By comparison, another well-known statistics site, Net Applications, indicates a completely different situation, with Internet Explorer and Firefox clearly passing as the top two spots, while Google’s Chrome barely makes it on number three.

While the numbers differ greatly between the two sources, the truth is probably somewhere in between, with neither Chrome nor Internet Explorer winning the race by such a landslide.
