The current beta version of the web browser is actually the same one as the Dev released a few days ago.

The new features introduced in Google Chrome Beta 17.0.963.26 are designed to improve both speed and security of the browser.

Faster browsing is generated by Omnibox’s pre-rendering capabilities, which means that web pages load in the background as you start typing in the address bar. Of course, it has to be a website you’re highly likely to visit for the feature to kick in.

Improved security is achieved through safe browsing technology. Plain and simple, this means that steps have been taken to protect the user against malicious downloads. As such, executable files (EXE and MSI) are analyzed more thoroughly before permitting their download.
