The newest build for Google Chrome beta, 17.0.963.38, is available for all supported platforms except for Chrome OS. It focuses on improving overall stability of the browser and fixing some UI issues.

One of the most important changes of this release is disabling GAIA profile info. The decision has been taken because the development team requires more time to perform UI tweaks for GAIA photos and avatars.

The change affects only version 17 of the browser and users who already have their GAIA photo in the profile avatar should see no difference unless they try to update it.

Another modification particular for this version is disabling accelerated 2D canvas. The reason is the same as in the case of GAIA: tweaks designed to make things work better.

Google Chrome beta, 17.0.963.38 also changes the download location for extensions. This is no longer done in the default folder, but in user’s current selection.
