Google Chrome 37 Dev, a browser built on the Blink layout engine that aims to be minimalistic and versatile at the same time, has been released and is now available for testing.

The Google developers have launched a new version of their Chrome browser, but this time it is just the development version, which is not usually suited for everyday use. The Chrome developers work on three distinct branches – Stable, Beta, and Development.

Most of the new features and various changes are introduced in the Development release and this is where things are decided. If something is working fine and there are no problems with that particular feature, the Beta version will integrate it, and from there it will probably land in the Stable release.

This latest Google Chrome 37 Dev version is a pretty big one, despite the fact that it's already the second in the series. It looks like the developers have implemented quite a few changes.

According to the changelog, a refactor menu dependency on aura/wm SetShadowType has been fixed, manual conflict resolution policy support has been dropped, the “Sign in to Chrome” button is no longer shown if sign-in is not allowed, the install_build_deps.sh file for Ubuntu 14.04 has been updated, Android x86 emulator image download paths have been fixed, a command-line option to enable VP9 encoding has been added, the experimental bookmarks extension has been whitelisted, and all apps and extensions are immediately unloaded when deleting a profile.

Also, the content settings bubble is now closing when the page changes, a TimeZone API has been added, the “App Info...” dialog has been disabled for the Store app, a UI has been implemented for provided file systems in the Files app, jsoncpp is no longer a trusted plugin, the CapsLock indicator is now shown in password field when CapsLock is on, the V8 engine has been updated to the latest version, non-HTML auth forms can now be filled, and the positioning of tooltips in multi-monitor setups has been fixed.

The Google Chrome developers only provide two kinds of binary files, deb and rpm, and no source. If you are not using a Linux distribution capable of reading this type of files, you will have to wait until it hits your repositories.

Usually, a complete list of changes can be found on the official website.

Remember that this is a development version and it should NOT be installed on production machines. It is intended for testing purposes only.
