The Google Chrome 35 development branch, a browser built on the Blink layout engine that aims to be minimalistic and versatile at the same time, has just received another sizable update, featuring a large number of fixes and changes.

A new version in the Development branch of Google Chrome is now out, bringing a big number of fixes and new features. As you well know, Google Chrome is actually based on Chromium and all the development takes place upstream. This also means that all the changes you see in this release will eventually make their way into the stable branch sooner or later, with some exceptions.

Google usually features three concurrent builds for its Google Chrome browser, which are stable, Beta, and Dev. The development version is the most advanced and the one prone to problems, bugs, regressions, and other issues. Some of the features implemented in this release might be interesting, but it's not obligatory that all of them are made available. You should treat this Dev branch as a testing ground, nothing less and nothing more.

According to the developers, this latest version of the Google Chrome 35 browser is a big update, and that can be easily observed from the changelog. For example, the –native-messaging-hosts flag has been removed because it is no longer useful, support that allows Autofill to be initiated from the textarea field has been added, MediaStream and speech-related messages with disallowed origins are now ignored, wrap/unwrap forwarding methods have been added to WebCryptoImpl, and a dedicated video player app has been added.

The Chromium developers say that the new video player app is almost a copy of the embedded video player app in Files.app. The embedded video player app in Files.app will be removed in a separated patch.

Also, a method to copy a file from the device to a particular local filename and use it as part of GetFileContents has been added, a trace event for gesture scrolling has been added, histograms have been added for the auto-reload UMA statistics, the V8 engine has been updated to version 3.25.23, HTTPS is now required for admin.google.com, and a bug where dragged and dropped text would be dropped before releasing the mouse button has been fixed.

Usually, a complete list of changes can be found on the official website. Remember that this is a development version and it should NOT be installed on production machines. It is intended for testing purposes only.
