Google Chrome 34 Beta, a browser built on the Blink layout engine that aims to be minimalistic and versatile at the same time, has just received another update, pushing the development of the browser a little closer to the stable release.

The Google Chrome Beta branch of the browser is a little more stable than the Dev one, but that doesn't mean that it's ready for widespread use. Most of the features implemented in this version are already established and they are unlikely to change, and the developers are only looking to fix any existing problems.

The Google devs have three different versions of their browser out in the wild at any given time. These are the development version, which has all the new cool features and which gets used as a testing ground for others, the Beta build, which focuses more on bug fixing than anything else, and the Stable branch, which is the culmination of everything that has been achieved in the previous releases.

Google Chrome 34 Beta is a somewhat smaller version than the Dev release from yesterday, but it still packs quite a punch. According to the changelog, the basic autofill for the password value is now activated only with a gesture, a missing permission called "metricsPrivate" has been added in manifest.json, the unsafe shape_plan->face dependency has been fixed, the host installation no longer prompts the cancelation in CRD webapp, and the CrashKeys are now enabled in Breakpad before setting the GUID for non-browser processes.

A very important sync-related bug has been corrected. The developer said that a bug that occurred when an HttpTransactionFactory failed to create an HttpTransaction has been fixed. This problem was causing sync to stop working during suspend.

Also, a smaller number of fixes have been implemented. For example, it’s now possible to filter IPC messages when the RenderFrameHost has been swapped out, a crash that occurred when switching between Wallet accounts on Mac OS X has been corrected, an integer overflow in the software compositor has been fixed, tab title font smoothing has been enabled and works with CoreAnimation, and extensions that have never set the preference after install will be disabled by default (users can change that).

Usually, a complete list of changes can be found on the official website. Remember that this is a development version and it should NOT be installed on production machines. It is intended for testing purposes only.
