Google rolled out a new update for the Dev channel of Chrome browser, incrementing the build number to 28.0.1469.0. It is currently available for Windows, Mac and Chrome Frame.

Although the developer revealed no change in the release notes, we noticed that the fresh revision has removed WebKit from the list of components and the line naming the browser engine has been replaced with Blink.

Make no mistake, the performance of Chrome is not affected in any way by this modification. Blink has been introduced in the previous dev release of Chrome, but Google only now took the steps to make the change on the “about:version” page of the browser.

The updated build uses V8 3.17.16 as JavaScript engine, which features stability and performance improvements on all supported platforms.
