Google has just rolled out a new stable version of its web browser. It was no surprise for us, just like it wasn’t the fact that it’ll introduce a redesigned New Tab Page. When you hit Ctrl+T or the “plus” sign in the tab bar the latest Chrome release will open a new tab with a different layout.

The current layout segregates the sections for the most visited pages and the web apps installed into two separate panels. So basically the “new tab” page has become browsable. Recently closed pages are available in a menu pinned on a band in the lower part of the screen.

Along with this change, which definitely alters the functionality of the browser, the new Chrome 15.0.874.102 also comes with increased stability and less vulnerabilities. Google paid quite some dollars $26,511 (€19,000) for uncovering security flaws with severity ranging from low to high.

The new tab, it really, really looks HORRIBLE. I'd rather have the old one.
