The Google Chrome Dev channel has been updated to version 14.0.835.35 for all supported platforms, including Mac OS X. This new release is specifically targeted at testers running the browser on OS X Lion, with improvements to the way Chrome behaves in Full Screen mode, and other tweaks.

According to Dharani Govindan, of the Google Chrome team, Chrome 14.0.835.35 Dev “contains an updated version of full screen mode for Mac OS X Lion, along with fixes for a number of stability issues on Lion and other platforms.”

Preliminary tests show that Chrome now enters full screen mode without the previous graphical glitches and behaves much better as far as scrolling is concerned.

The browser also moves faster between clicks, displaying all the elements that make up a web page more rapidly.

In what was an admittedly shallow test of the latest Chrome Dev release, we can confirm the new version feels more at home on a Lion machine compared to previous releases.

As usual, full details about what changes are in this build can be found the SVN revision log.

For those looking to rely on Chrome for their daily browsing or even work, the Stable build is recommended.

Updated this week with a more secure version of the Adobe Flash plugin, Chrome 13 Stable is immediately available for download from the link below. Dev users have their updated build there as well.

Chrome requires an Intel-based Macintosh computer, a minimum of 128MB of RAM, and around 100MB of free disk space.

Although development appears to be winding down smoothly, Chrome engineers seem reluctant to return to the differential increments between the three Chrome channels, as far as version numbering is concerned.

Specifically, the Dev channel should have been promoted to version 15, and the Beta channel to version 14, with the Stable front already being set at version 13.
