A new update of Chrome 10.0 is available for download to early adopters through the Dev Channel. Build 10.0.648.82 has been released for all supported platforms, and is now up for grabs for testers running either Windows, Mac OS X or Linux.

At this stage in the development process of Chrome 10.0, Google is simply getting the version ready for the next stage.

In this regard, users should not expect to see any consistent changes in Chrome 10.0.648.82 Dev.

According to the Mountain View-based search giant, the focus was placed on resolving a number of bugs impacting the stability of the last release of the open source browser served to early adopters through the development channel.

On top of being more reliable, Chrome 10.0.648.82 Dev brings nothing new to the table, but at the same time manages to signal the approaching Beta.

Beta is after all the next stage in the evolution of Chrome 10.0, now that Chrome 9.0 is being offered via the Stable Channel to all end users.

Of course, this automatically means that testers need to get ready for the first release of Chrome 11.0 Dev.

Google hasn’t offered an official launch deadline for Chrome 11.0 Dev, not that the company ever did for its open source browser development milestones or major iterations, but the successor of Chrome 10.0 is quite close to hitting the Dev Channel.

As this will happen, the underlying Chromium project will also be pushed forward, in preparation for the first Chrome 12.0 Build which will be offered in the next few months.

Google has certainly managed to keep up a very fast release pace for Chrome, and the Mountain View-based search giant shows no signs of stopping or of slowing down.
