Although the Mountain View company recently updated the interface of its official website, it seems like Google is now interested in reverting the appearance to the old design used before. Philipp Lenssen from Google Blogoscoped reports that some of the users are now seeing the old interface of the search engine instead of the new one which should appear on the main version of
Google. "Weird, but some of us are getting the old Google homepage design back (as pictured above). Instead of the navigation at the top left, the links are back to above the search box. Wonder if Google is rolling out an "undo" operation to their last big redesign from May this year," Philipp Lenssen wrote on Google Blogoscoped.
If you didn't know, the new interface was not introduced in the local versions of Google where the Mountain View company kept the old appearance. Although I don't like the new interface it is somehow useful since the search toolbar is placed in the left part of the screen and not above the search box as we know it.
Although I don't think that the old design appears due to your browser's cache, Matt, a Google Blogoscoped reader, wrote that he contacted the Mountain View company one month ago when he first noticed the old appearance. "I noticed this about a month ago and send Google a message asking them what was up. I got this reply in an email, "Thank you for your note. Clearing your browser's cache can resolve a number of problems you may be experiencing while using Google or other sites on the web. This was followed by instructions on how to clear the browser cache. Since then, I have not had Google appear with the old style," he mentioned.
Until the search giant's representatives clarify the issue, we cannot surely know what will happen with the Google interface, but I really don't think that they plan to reintroduce the old design. Maybe it would be a good idea to let us choose between the old and the new interface…
