Google Celebrates Halloween with Scooby Doo Mystery Doodle (Pics)

Halloween is not here for most of the world, but the scariest day of the year has already started in parts of the Pacific ocean. Google is not wasting any time and is already running a dedicated doodle in New Zealand with Australia next. And what better way to celebrate Halloween than with a good old fashioned Scooby Doo mystery.

Google is sporting increasingly elaborated doodles and this latest one doesn't disappoint. The rich visual style, albeit instantly recognizable from the classic cartoon, is spread out over five frames.

The frames tell a classic Scooby Doo story. A terrifying ghost is scaring the kids away from trick-or-treating. It's up to Scooby and gang to figure out the mystery. As is always the case, the ghost is revealed to be not so scary or real after all.

Of course, the Google logo is cleverly disguised in all of the panels, though it's more easily spotted in some. Recognizing the Google letters in the doodles is an acquired skill.

Childhood cartoon inspired doodles are becoming a trend at Google. Very recently, the search giant celebrated the 50th birthday of The Flintstones, another classic cartoon.

The interesting part is that both The Flintstones and Scooby Doo have been around on this Earth longer than most Googlers, save for CEO Eric Schmidt and a few of the senior execs and staff.
