An updated flavor of the Google Calendar application is now available for download for the owners of Android-based devices, currently featuring version 201404011.

One of the enhancements included in the new app iteration is location suggestions for nearby places. The feature was available on Calendar on the web, but the Android application did not have it until now.

As Android Police notes, the Calendar on Android only provided location suggestions of contacts in the Address Book when creating a new event.

Following the update, the application will be able to suggest locations from various places, most probably powered by Google Maps, though it appears that the feature is not polished as of now.

Another big enhancement in the new Calendar version is support for video calls, a feature that has also been available on the web for a while now.

It will provide users with the possibility to join conference calls with only a few taps. A new Join Hangout option will appear for meetings with video calls enabled.

After selecting the option, you will also need to click on the Join video call button that will appear on the screen. Unfortunately, there is no possibility to add video call support to meetings that you have created using the app on your device, it seems.

You can download Google Calendar for Android from Softpedia today. The app is compatible with all devices running Android 4.0.3 and newer OS versions.
