Google has just announced on its official Gmail blog, that Google Calendar Sync now supports Outlook 2010. According to the feedback received by the company, this seems to be the major feature requested by the users of the application

Google Calendar is working with multiple mobile devices, such as iCal, iPhone and iPad, Blackberry, Android, Nokia/Symbian, and Windows Mobile phones.

Even though Google Calendar Sync is now fully working with Outlook 2010, it seems that only the 32-bits version is supported.

To start using the new feature, users will need to download the latest Google Calendar Sync 0.9.3.6. Once installed, users will need to fill in their account's email address and password in the Settings window.

After logging into the account users will need to choose their sync option and sync frequency.

There are three types of sync options available between Google Calendar and Microsoft Outlook Calendar: 2-way sync, 1-way: Google Calendar to Microsoft Outlook calendar, and 1-way: Microsoft Outlook calendar to Google Calendar.

On a side note, those that are already using Google Calendar Sync will still need to download and install the new 0.9.3.6 version in order to be able to sync with Outlook 2010.

While there's no word yet about a possible update that will feature support for the 64-bits version of Outlook 2010, we can guess that Google's development team isn't preping the feature in the near future, especially thatWindows XP 64-bit Edition is not supported yet.

For those out of the loop Google Calendar Sync allows users to sync events between Google Calendar and Microsoft Outlook Calendar. The application enables users to determine the direction of information flow, as well as the sync frequency.

Currently, Google Calendar Sync is compatible with Microsoft Outlook versions 2003, 2007, 2010 and operating systems Windows XP and Windows Vista. Windows XP 64-bit Edition is not compatible with Google Calendar Sync at this time.
