Google Buys Restaurant Site Builder Appetas, Shuts It Down
Appetas is going to shut down, so it will help customers during the transition
Google has acquired Appetas, a site builder that caters to restaurants.Appetas helps out restaurants that want to cool websites that integrate with Foursquare, OpenTable and GrubHub, as well as other services focused on this particular industry.
“We started Appetas to drastically simplify life for merchants by giving them a beautiful, easy-to-use online presence in seconds. We now have an opportunity to help merchants on an even bigger scale,” starts off the announcement posted on Appetas’ website.
The company’s team will now be joining Google, hoping to bring its vision to another scale and help even more merchants strengthen their business.
Unfortunately, the service will now shut down and the team will work along with customers to transition their websites to alternative platforms.
“Thanks to all of our customers and partners who used the service, gave us feedback, and helped make Appetas what it is today. In addition, we wouldn’t be here without the guidance and support we received from our families, friends, mentors, and investors. This has been an incredible experience and we can't wait to discover what the future holds!” reads the blog post.
The new purchase indicates that Google is once more interested in getting involved with local businesses and modern services brought to the table by the likes of Foursquare and Yelp.
