Personalized Homepage was messed up

Yesterday, one of the most used Google products was messed up by an unknown error that caused the service's configuration to be reverted to default. Google Personalized Homepage was quite messed up because a considerable number of users were affected by the bug and were unable to access the gadgets or other type of information stored in their account. As far as I can see, the bug affected all users, no matter what browser or operating system they used. A huge Google Groups thread reveals that Personalized Homepage was reverted to default and any other change was quite useless as the service wasn't able to save the configuration. After an impressive number of clients reported the problem, Google finally started to investigate the issue and posted a reply to the affected users.

"Yikes! So sorry about this everyone... but thanks so much for coming here to report it. We're now in frantic-chase-down-this-bug mode here at the Googleplex, and I hope to have more info for you soon. For now, we're not entirely sure of this, but it's possible that changing your homepage theme might cause the problem. Sp, if you still have your homepage intact, please avoid changing your theme until further notice. The big question I know you'll all want answered is whether you'll get your homepage back once we sort things out... and the really honest answer is that I hope so, but I just don't know yet," the Google Guide Jaime sustained in the post.

At this time, the product is fully functional and includes all the modifications I made in the past, including themes, gadgets and news. Although the product was down for a limited period of time, the company's representatives advised the users to avoid recreating the personalized homepage as the new configuration might overwrite the old one. So, if you encounter any problems with your Google page, just remain calm and wait for a fix from Googleplex.
