The main domain and several subdomains of Google Bolivia have been defaced by a Turkish hacker that uses the online moniker Misafir.

The hacker has targeted the following domains: google.com.bo, translate.google.com.bo, images.google.com.bo, sms.google.com.bo, news.google.com.bo, labs.google.com.bo, id.google.com.bo and maps.google.com.bo.

The attack took place on October 30, HackRead reports. Currently, the affected domains appear to be working properly.

Of course, it’s unlikely that Google servers have been breached by the hacker. Instead, the most likely scenario is that he gained access to the systems of a Bolivian registrar and altered the DNS records for the Google domains.

DNS poisoning attacks have been very popular among hackers who want to boost their popularity or spread a political message, such as in the case of the attacks launched by pro-Palestinian group KDMS Team.
